Review

I recently wanted to replace my stock speakers and have found that these have great reviews, great price, and great reputation (as far as brand goes). So i picked up two sets of these bad boys.
I have a few things to say here. First off, they are 2ohm speakers, most head units are stable at 4-8 ohms so plan on running power to them with a 2ohm amp or a 2ohm stable head unit.If you fail to do so you will fry the internal amp built in your head unit and will experience “clipping” (system shuts down @ moderately high volumes). If you are running off your 2ohm head unit, the bass is not worth mentioning. I am running 45w x 4 @ 2ohms from an external amp and these puppies are LOUD! After my install i wanted to test out the full affect and justify my purchase and labor efforts so I drove down interstate 35W @ 65mph with both windows down and could hear every detail.

I was on the road for about 25mins and shortly after got in a accident. It is really messing with my conscience, was it a coincidence that i rear ended somebody on the first day i was rocking out to my new system?; OR is it that these speakers are so darn loud (good thing ) you have to be extra careful, which should always be the case when driving with such high volumes.

Do not get me wrong i am not blaming the speakers, i just want to let you know these speakers are great and really can capture your attention if you are a speaker enthuisiast and listen for key details.

People that compare the price to best-buy are not making fair comparisons. Best-buy comes with free install and warrants their work as well as replaces anything they break. If you have never done an install before, i would advise doing research, getting the right tools, and allow 6-7 hours (amp + speaker install.)

Reason for four stars?
I do not know why they mentioned that BS about them being stable with any head unit. I have a 4-8ohm head unit, and when i had two speakers running they would shut off at a decent volume. When i had just one installed to the head unit for testing purposes i experienced a whistling-ringing sound at a high volume, this is probably due to being under-powered, so i would advise get a 2-ohm amp or head unit to these!

Plus One Woofer Cones
This patent-pending technology delivers a cone with more surface area than competing models of the same size. The result is increased bass output and higher efficiency.

True Four Ohms
All Reference speakers feature two ohm voice coils. Original factory-installed speaker wiring in many cars is 18-22 gauge. This wire, and heating in the voice coil when power is applied, increase the impedance “seen” by the amplifier or head unit. The impedance of Reference Speakers has been adjusted to compensate for this increase and can be safely driven by any head unit.

Edge-Driven Textile Dome Tweeters
These are not commonly used w-domes, but fully edge-driven domes–like those found in better home audio speakers. The benefit is increased power handling and reduced distortion at high output levels. This technology also allows for better integration with the mid/woofer.

Unipivot
The Infinity 6022i’s unipivot design allows the tweeter to be pointed at the listener’s location even when the speaker is mounted off axis. This optimizes the stereo image and ensures a more uniform response.

Tweeter Level Adjustment
The 6022i also features a tweeter level adjustment located on the front of the speaker and can be set at the reference level of 0dB. If the speakers are located low in the doors or if you are looking for a brighter sound, set the tweeter at +3dB.
